Black Hearts. {Manicure}

I tend to ignore Valentine's Day for the most part... it's a silly holiday - and very easy to become slightly bitter when you're single. However, I try to not go the bitter route and just see it as an excuse to love pink, red, and hearts even more.

Is this not the cutest Valentine's Day card?

Oh, and the conversation hearts. BEST PART! {yellow is my favorite - feel free to send me a bag full! ;)}

This is a bucket of fun... we used this for Valentine's Day Mini Sessions {no, it's not full of candy hearts... its full of paper then a layer of candy!}
But the absolute best part... an excuse to give yourself a fun manicure. Not that I ever need an excuse for that.

\

tools:

Red polish - I used OPI: Girls Just Want to Play {my favorite red polish}
Bright pink polish - China Glaze: Flip Flop Fantasy
Black polish - L.A. Girls: Blackout
Masking tape
Scissors

I painted my nails all red with one pink accent nail on each hand. I then let those dry completely. Then I tore off a piece of masking tape and folded it in half lightly then cut a heart out of it - ya know, like we were taught how to do in elementary school. Then very carefully peeled the tape apart and VOILA! there was a cute little heart.

I placed it on the nail I wanted to have a heart on. Make sure it's completely stuck around the heart to ensure that it doesn't bleed. Then paint that black heart! Let completely dry - slowly peel the tape off and slap on a coat of top coat and you have yourself a pretty little Valentine's Day manicure.

Fun, right?

Oh and as I special Valentine's Day gift to you all.. I have one of these pretties... {the pink cowl}

Facts. {Cowboy boots don't have traction...}

Some of you reading this may know me IRL or have followed me thru my blog hopping days. {Which I hope this little piece of internet real estate is where I stay}... and then some of you may have just jumped on the Nora & Jac train. THANK YOU!

And for you lovelies... I'll let you in on a few secrets facts about me.

I work as an assistant photographer at Amy Clark Studios. Which I love. I have learned so much and love being able to feed my creativity everyday.

My hair is SO blonde here! Clearly this is old! #rootsgalore

I am a bottled water snob. I refuse to drink "spring water." It has to be purified. There's a HUGE difference in taste - to me anyhow.

I went to Bowling Green State University and majored in Fashion and Marketing. To this day {7 years since graduation}, fashion continues to be a passion of mine - which is why I'm so grateful to be in such a creative field.

I'm not a morning person. I'd prefer no one speak to me until about 10am.

I always, always, always have my nails painted. Always. There are no exceptions. I probably own over 100 bottles of nail polish and am constantly in need of more.

Cowboy boots. I love them. I'd wear them everyday if I could. {I can't because sometimes it snows in Ohio and those babies have NO traction and I'd bite it. I know this from experience. OUCH!}

OH! Last night on Instagram {are you following me? you should! well... if you want ;)} I mentioned having a "Brrr, it's cold, I can't believe it's February, but HEY it's the weekend!" sale... and guess what!?! I am... Head on over to Nora & Jac and enter code WEEKEND at checkout to receive 20% off cowls! Good thru the weekend....

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend and don't freeze your little bums off!!!

It's ok. {Round 2}

Anyone else think this week is flying by?!

This has been my week. Cats, cowls, and nail polish.
Anyways, I'm linking up with Neely for It's Okay Thursday...

Its Ok Thursdays

It's ok...

to be sooooo excited about the Weddings we have booked this year. One is a lifelong friend of mine and I'm so thrilled that they chose us to photograph their big day!

to come to the conclusion that I focus much more and am WAY more productive in the mornings when I drink Red Bull as opposed to coffee.

to be a little annoyed that it's so cold out. Again. Still.

to have full fledged conversations with my cat when he consistently wakes me up at 3am for no reason. "Why, Tric, why?! Ugh" "Meow" "Ugh... I don't know what you want..." it goes a lot like that... then he gets booted out the door. Momma needs her sleep. #crazycatlady

to be thinking about a little sale at Nora & Jac. Who doesn't love a little discount? ;) And on that note to get all warm and fuzzy inside when I read sweet emails, tweets, and blog posts about my cowls.

to keep it short and simple today.

Have a fantastic Thursday, y'all!

So... I've moved.

I've been toying with this change for awhile. A long while actually. While I liked WordPress... I don't feel as if I could ever make it look the way I wanted without spending a lofty amount of money. And quite honestly, I just didn't have that money laying around. So... I stopped blogging for a couple of months. Reason being... I just didn't like the way it looked.

Sad. I know.

I have also been toying with opening up a shop for a bit. I just didn't know the avenue that I wanted to go with it.

But then...

A couple of weeks before Christmas I had made myself this...

A bright, colorful, super soft cowl. And had a HUGE response to it. I hadn't intended on making and selling them but after seeing all the love that my first two got... I decided - why not?! Instead of searching for a niche in the handmade world - one found me. And I couldn't be happier. Or more grateful!

Since then I have made and sold quite a few - but have used Facebook, Instagram, and word of mouth as my main avenues of selling.

And after I thought long and hard I decided that opening an online shop would be extremely beneficial.

With that... Nora & Jac {the story behind the name will be in a later post!} was born. Again, I struggled with whether or not to keep my blog name as Messy Hair & Cowboy Boots or to change it all so it's more cohesive. I bit the bullet... and here we are. I'm starting 2013 completely fresh. New blog, new shop, and lots of exciting things in store. I hope you'll follow me on this new adventure!

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter.

Coming VERY soon... my Store Envy shop!!!

p.s. This little guy is still a work a progress so bear with me until the dust settles!
